Something is stirring in the world of audio blogging and its something to do with audioboo & ipadio.

My guess is that with this kind of utility, audio blogging and citizen journalism is likely to jump dramatically. Obviously most people don;t have much of anything interesting to say, but assuming there are enough humans working on this, we should see some good stuff emerge.

?Simple?ideas like sound libraries could be build up as you have picture libraries. But more importantly it just another form of expression and that’s good. I don’t think the written word is going to be dented by this

Practical applications? I will probably use it for my work. In Betfair we have a content team who spend their time commenting on events. I can see them using this and then re-purposing an RSS feed so we can combine the content with our written stuff.

From a business model point of view, I guess they will get into the equivalent of radio advertising…or subscriptions for a super fast service.

Anyhow, its another step forward!

    Hi Nick

I can speak for ipadio re the business model. Rather than advertising, it centres on the development of bespoke applications (private channels, shared revenue services with community owners, developing niche applications etc). So take Betfair, we’d work with you to develop a bespoke service that might have secure channels for your different sports, Tweeting to your followers on new commentaries, email to those who don’t Tweet, maybe even content generated by your punters?

We’ve 30 or so different conversations on the go, and it looks like the English Golf Union will be first to the post (apologies for the pun) with coverage from the Brabazon this weekend.
